After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore the Inca city of Machu Picchu on your own. We offer you two options to return to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu.
TRAIN OPTION
You can visit Machu Picchu for a longer time and have enough time if you are planning to do HUAYNAPICCHU or MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN, which require a minimum of approximately 3 hours. After visiting the Machu Picchu area for 7 to 8 hours, you must return to the town of Aguas Calientes to catch a train at 6:20 p.m. to Ollantambo for 1.5 hours then by car to Cusco for 2 more hours to arrive in Cusco around 10:30 p.m.
CAR OPTION
Arrive at Machu Picchu around 6:00 am for the 2.5-hour guided tour and then have free time to explore the site on your own. If you choose this option and are thinking of doing HUAYNAPICCHU or MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN, it’s possible but you’ll be too tight on time because you must leave Machu Picchu at 11:30 to walk back to Hidroelectrica for 3 hours to be in Hidrolectrica by 2:30 pm to catch a car for 6 hours back to Cusco. If you are considering this option and doing one of the mountains, we recommend staying one more night in Aguas Calientes and returning to Cusco on day 6 by car.

lima - paracas
The designation of "the city of the kings" for Lima is due to the celebration of the Three Kings, which had recently taken place. Following the defeat of the Incas, Lima became the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru, from where the Spanish ruled over the Peruvian territory. The Spanish conquistadors also extended their dominion over most of South America.
