Salineras de Maras

The tour starts with hotel pickup from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. We will then begin the tour heading northwest from the city of Cusco, passing through typical towns with beautiful landscapes. The first point of visit will be the village of Maras, from where you can appreciate the peaks of the Vilcanota mountain range covered with perpetual snow, such as the “El Chicón” and “La Verónica” snow-capped mountains. Next, we will visit the Moray Archaeological Complex, a set of enormous terraces that overlap concentrically in a giant pit, which in Inca times served for the study of agriculture.

Afterwards, we will visit the Salineras, which are constituted by about 2000 small wells with an average area of about 5 m², exploited since the Inca period, colonial period, and still exploited by the locals. Our visit concludes as we return to the city of Cusco. We will arrive in Cusco City at approximately 2:30 to 3:00 p.m.
