HIGHLIGHTS:
RED VALLEY
Puno, Urcos, Taquile, and Amantani are islands found within the mysterious Lake Titicaca, which you can visit if you take this tour. Furthermore, we can assure you that you will live an unforgettable experience since the places you will visit have great stories and historical value of great magnitude.
DAY 01: CITY TOUR – UROS
First, we’ll pick you up from your hotel to start a tour of the historic center of the city. You will get to know the Plaza de Armas of Puno to admire its architecture, including the Municipal Palace, the Casa de Conde de Lemus with its rich historical content, and the Yauri “ship contained in a museum.” Finally, the Maritime Museum will introduce us to the lost city at the depths of Lake Titicaca. Afterward, we’ll have a traditional lunch.
Next, we’ll head to the Uros Floating Islands, artificial islands on Lake Titicaca built with totora reed. Here, people live by weaving and creating different types of handicrafts. Totora reed grows abundantly in this part of the lake. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in the activities that the population engages in, such as weaving, farming, fishing on reed boats, and more.
Finally, we’ll return to the city of Puno and then transfer you back to your respective hotel for some rest for the next day.
DAY 02: AMANTANI
Our guide will pick you up to transfer you to Amantani, an enchanting island surrounded by flowers located 38 km away within Lake Titicaca at an altitude of 3817 meters above sea level. Near the Capachica and Chucuito peninsulas, two ceremonial centers called Pachatata and Pachamama can be found. From here, you can observe the entire panorama of the lake and the sunset.
You’ll have the opportunity to stay with a local family and learn their language as they will gladly support you.
DAY 03: TAQUILE – PUNO
Early in the morning after breakfast, we’ll head to Taquile, another fascinating island on the lake located 45 km from Puno. Taquile boasts several viewpoints as it is situated at a considerable height, allowing us to have marvelous vistas. The ground is of a deep, earthy red color which contrasts beautifully with the intense blue of the lake under the sunlight. The Spanish conquistadors also extended their dominion over most of South America.
