The tour to the Southern Valley begins with the pick-up from your hotel between 8:00 to 8:30 am. From the city of Cusco, we will head south, and during the journey, you will observe terraces and beautiful landscapes of potato, corn, quinoa, and other crops. Our first visit is Pikillaqta, which is approximately 1 hour from Cusco.

Next, we will visit the archaeological site of Tipon, where you can appreciate the water fountains and terraces.

Finally, we will visit the church of Andahuaylillas, which is approximately 40 minutes from Pikillaqta. Here, you will appreciate the cave paintings and it is also one of the most beautiful colonial temples in America, better known as the Sistine Chapel of America. It showcases the best of colonial art from the Cusco School. We will then return to Cusco at approximately 5:00 to 5:30 pm.

Tipon Archaeological Complex

It is an archaeological complex where you can see that the Incas, apart from being experts in architecture, were also very skilled in agriculture. They implemented highly advanced hydraulic irrigation systems in their fields, which is why they were able to bring water from many kilometers away by building canals.

Pikillaqta Archaeological Complex

It is a pre-Inca city located in the southern part of Cusco. While much has been said about the Incas, what about pre-Inca civilizations like the Wari? The Incas would be almost nothing without the technological advances of pre-Inca cultures, just as the Romans would be nothing without the Greeks. That’s why we invite you to discover the greatness of the Wari by visiting the archaeological site of Pikillaqta.

The Church of Andahuaylillas

It is a very picturesque city from the colonial period (17th century), where you will find the most extravagant church in the American continent in terms of decoration, hence also called “The Sistine Chapel of America.”
